On this tour participants will explore public art outside at the Surprise Community Park. Teaching artist, Rae Wilson will guide participants to create their own sketches, taking notice of the art and creativity all around us in a fun, low-stress, outdoor, judgement-free zone. This event is for all ages and skill levels. No prior experience is necessary to participate in this sketching tour, and sketchbooks and pencils will be provided. This event takes place outdoors, bring good walking shoes, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water. We will be sitting on benches and grass that is outdoors, so dress appropriately to enjoy the relaxing experience outdoors. The starting location for this event will be in the lobby of the Surprise Regional Library (16089 N Bullard Ave, Surprise, AZ 85374)
Rae Wilson (she/they) is a contemporary artist from Illinois who primarily uses Acrylic based paints to develop paintings that tell stories through a surrealist lens. Their work examines parallels and uses a formula for finding circles as connections between what is real and what is imagined. Rae is a self-taught artist and teaches at multiple facilities across the valley. She shares work locally in exhibitions, is a Studio Artist in Residency for the City of Tempe and American Landmark Residency program.
